DAY 2 THE GOLDEN CIRCLE B, L
Expect a day of dramatic scenery!
We head east to discover the world-famous “Golden Circle,” the most breath-taking scenery and landscapes you will ever encounter.
Pingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is where the tectonic plates of North America and Europe’s meet. Next is off to the geothermal fields of Geysir, known for its bubbling mud pools and the high-spouting Strokkur Hot Spring, and finally to Gullfoss Waterfall. Once we have circled the area, we return to Reykjavik.
Lunch at local restaurant included.
DAY 3 REYKJAVIK TO THE SOUTH SHORE B, L, D
We drive from Reykjavik through the fertile farmlands of South-Iceland heading towards the majestic mountains towering over the coast, among them the snow shrouded Hekla volcano and the ice capped volcano Eyjafjallajökull glacier, last active in 2010. Continuing we drive through the region where one of the best known of the Icelandic classical sagas,
Njál’s Saga is set. The South Shore is one of the most popular region of Iceland for many reasons:
The waterfalls Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss tumbling over high rock escarpments;
The stone arch Dyrhólaey with its sheer cliffs; The picturesque setting of Vík village; A row of glaciers towering over the scenery and the Reynisdrangar rock pillars (some say they are petrified trolls) decorating the black beach of Reynihverfi.
Included today is a visit to the Lava and Volcano museum, an interactive, high-tech
educational exhibition depicting volcanic activity, earthquakes and the creation of Iceland
over millions of years.
Lunch at local restaurant included. Dinner at hotel.
Accommodation: 4 Star Hotel (2 nights)
DAY 4 SOUTH SHORE EXPERIENCE B, L, D
With your guide, we will cross Eldhraun, the largest mass of lava ever to flow on the face of the Earth before reaching the small town Kirkjubaejarklaustur, the former site of a 12th- century Catholic convent. Head onwards to Skaftafell National Park, one of Iceland's most
outstanding areas of natural beauty. Continue to the stunning Jokulsarlon Glacial Lagoon to
see floating icebergs. Throughout the day, enjoy magnificent views of the mighty Vatnajökull
Glacier. Today there will be the option of a glacier hike. See rates under optional services. A glacier hike is also be included on today’s journey to give you more of a glimpse of the inside of a glacier!

DAY 5 SOUTH SHORE TO REYKJAVIK B
After breakfast, we follow the beautiful coastline back to Reykjavik. En route, stop in the charming village of Hveragerdi.
